Don’t forget me – New Orleans : Haiku, a Travel Haibun

Haibun : Don’t forget me

In 1854, families began erecting mausoleums in St. Louis Cemetery No. 3, New Orleans. Names etched in marble solidly outlasting their stay here on earth.  Family pedigrees carved into stone. I can hear the begats between each line. Listen! Do you hear that? That cry echoing down the corridors of time : “Don’t forget me!”

angels hovering
lives defined by dates : birth, death
hark! “Don’t forget me!”
