Haibun Road Roundup Week 13

Haibun Road Writing Challenge Roundup Week 13

We are finishing up the thirteenth week of Haibun Road, a weekly haibun challenge . I invited you to write a short paragraph and a haiku inspired by Basho as he finds Saigyo’s willow in Oku no Hosomichi (translated most often as Narrow Road to the North or Narrow Road to the Interior).

This week we had four haibuns from Nick Mueller, Sgeoil, SketchingWords and myself.

Haibun Road Week 13 : see first comment by Nick Mueller doesn’t have a blog yet so he dropped his haibun (a reverse crime story) in the comments.  How cool is that? Leave comments as replies for him. He’ll probably check back.

Weeping Willow by Sgeoil wrote a lovely ode to a willow.

Haibun Road Week 13/Lake Hamilton by Sketchingwords.com, join her as she walks along observing the wildife.

Haibun : Casa Grande by Cactus Haiku visits the Casa Grande Neon Sign Park commemorating Arizona Route 84 through vintage neon signs.

I hope you enjoyed or will enjoy reading them and that you will join us in our next haibun challenge (will be posted about 11pm Arizona Time). Haibuns can be any time during the week as pingbacks or pasted into comments.

You can use the Amazon search bar to do any search at Amazon. Today being Memorial Day in the United States, I thought I’d do a search on that. The American flag sunglasses would work for July 4th too although I prefer wire rims myself to wear. In Arizona, you really need sunglasses because otherwise the glare off the sidewalks (if you go outside in the summer heat) makes your eyes really tired. I used to think I just got sleepy a lot in the summers but it turned out that sunglasses helped my eyes and viola! no more sleepyhead. I wonder if the sun up north is easier on people up there. (As the search script may bring back different results on different days, the 2 Pairs American Flag Sunglasses I saw may not show when you see results. I thought these MERRY’S Cat Eye Sunglasses (Black, 50) looked cooler. I love window shopping and search engines bring it to a whole other level.)
