Haibun : waterfall

I remember a waterfall, glorious, crashing, a loud symphony. I recall walking along a stream, furiously photographing the swirling liquid glass in clear browns and creams. Do I conjure up the event or just the photographs? I remember the walk up, hot and huffing. Arriving at the bottom of the fall, the mist cools you down.I no longer recollect what I didn’t photograph. Do I not remember because it was unmemorable which was why I didn’t photograph it in the first place? Or do I only recall the photographs and mistake that for the memory of the place? I flash on Yosemite but who did I travel with?  Kim? Yes, I remember Kim and staying at a stranger’s cabin. We saw a notecard at the San Francisco youth hostel and they needed a housesitter for a week. Wow! That fragment just popped out of nowhere.  I’ve lost the filmstrip, the photographs.  Maybe it’s in a box.  I did sell one photograph in Tempe for a mere $100 to use on a cleansing tea package.  At the time I had my reservations but now I’m glad I did.  I found the ad, one photograph to pull a few memories out of the filing cabinet called my brain.  I thought that drawer was empty but turned out it was just stuck.  It needs a little help now and then to pull out the few memories caught inside, just snippets really.  A lot of the filing drawers are stuck but a trigger can pull them open: a random smell, a taste, an image, a bit of a conversation and boom it slides open and memories spill out. I wonder what I forgot sometimes.  A whole other person could live in the experiences I’ve forgotten. They’re not erased, just hidden. It’s okay.  You can’t miss what you’ve forgotten. However you can be seriously irritated by it.  No matter.  For today, I remember. I remember a waterfall, glorious, crashing, a loud symphony.

Haibun Road : a haibun weekly challenge (wk 7)
inspiration : waterfall

You can use the Amazon search bar to do any search at Amazon like did with “naturally herbal tea”. “Naturally klean herbal tea” pulled up only one item–an obesity stretch-mark removal cream (don’t ask me why. I have no clue) so I dropped the klean to widen the search. I wonder if the folks that bought my photograph still make that tea, if Houston Enterprises still exists. Looks doubtful.  I’m sure they would be on Amazon if they still existed.
