Haibun Road : Roundup Week 3

Haibun Road Writing Challenge Roundup Week 3

It’s already the third week of Haibun Road, a weekly haibun challenge. This time I invited you to write a short paragraph and a haiku inspired by the third paragraph and second haiku from Basho in Oku no Hosomichi (translated most often as Narrow Road to the North or Narrow Road to the Interior).

Hope you enjoyed reading this week’s contributions.

Arrival by sgeoil wrote a lovely haibun anticipating Spring.

Sabi Saturday week 1 by sketchingwords.com penned an eloquent haibun of cactus and her father.   She actually added the haibun to another prompt I did on Cactus Catz and mentioned it would be perfect for the haibun prompt on Cactus Haiku.  I agree so here it is.

Cesar Chavez Elementary School, San Francisco, mural by Cactus Haiku on a cool mural with sign language and other languages.

On the river, a travel haibun by Cactus Haiku about catching a river ferry on Bangkok’s river

I hope you enjoyed or will enjoy reading them and that you will join us in our next haibun challenge (will be posted in about 11pm Arizona Time).

Links are to haibun books on Amazon (I’m an affiliate but it’s also easy to throw in a search term like “haibun” to find book titles there. While I buy books on Amazon, I also use the library and the local used and new brick&mortar bookstores to encourage publishers to keep publishing physical books and hopefully for the bookstores to last longer — who doesn’t love browsing through actual books? — although kindle is a god-send, especially for independent authors which I also hope to be one).

You can use the Amazon search bar to do any search at Amazon

As an Amazon affiliate, I may earn a fee if you click on the above links and buy something. This does not affect your price which remains the same.
