Hi, I thought I would send you this link from Colleens Chesebro Blog and you could read what John Mabury says in the comments. If you have a Web Host you maybe able to check it out, as everytime I bring up your blog it says you are not a Secure site to visit.
Here is the link – https://colleenchesebro.com/2018/09/16/http-vs-https-why-is-this-important/ Hope you don’t mind me telling you.

Hi, the website is not a https site. I’ve noticed that if the search engine/word reader/browser automatically defaults to https instead of my actual http, then you get that warning. In the past, nonbusiness sites were not https site but rather http site unless it’s a site that has products and people have to input credit card or other financial info. Last year starting in november, Google search has gone on a warpath against http site and has declared them nonsecure. It used to be that if people put in financial information, that was what would trigger the insecure warnings. Now if a site has a search or a comment box, it will trigger the warning. It does not mean someone can go to your site and enter your site. Neither can they steal your password. What they can steal is your comment words or search term/phrase. Bots can steal comments anyways just by copying the whole page doesn’t matter if it’s a http or https site. I’ve noticed an increase of copied comments used in spam to try to around spam blockers with a legit comment but the link is to a bad website. The problem is https certificates cost money and can range up to the hundreds for a single certificate depending on how secure you want it. Right now most webhosting companies don’t offer a free certificate with webhosting although that is changing because of the pressure google’s browser has put on people to convert to https. This year other browsers have followed their lead and started popping up those insecure sign if a person has a search box or comment section. It has nothing to do with passwords or any other sensitive data any more — all data is considered sensitive. While a search term is ephemeral and the main reason bots may be stealing them is to sell a list of the most popular search terms, comments are not ephemeral. Many for-profit companies that didn’t used to have https sites have converted such as news agencies to https due to this. Google has claimed credit for the internet now being more than 80% https when at the beginning of last year it was more like 40%. Since most of the for-profit businesses have already converted, now pretty much the pressure has shifted to individual sites like poetry or lifestyle that traditionally did not need the https. Because my webhosting company does not give away https certificates for free, I am currently searching for another provider because there are others out there that do. As you can see in this article
      https://www.theverge.com/2018/2/8/16991254/chrome-not-secure-marked-http-encryption-ssl
Google chrome’s product security manager said, ” “we think that in July the balance will be tipped enough so that we can mark all HTTP sites.” So as you can see it’s not about if the information is secure or not, it’s become only about if you have an http site, Google wants to force people to migrate to https. I took off the search box which fixed the problem for awhile but now they have oved from search boxes to just if you have an “http” site. If you have a free wordpress site on wordpress.com, it is automatically https because wordpress gives that away for free. This is mostly an issue for wordpress.org users who have blogs on a web hosting plan. Irksome.

Ok, I put up a free SSL security certificate. First one took 4 hours, the other 2 took about 5-7 minutes each — I have 4 blogs but one already had one on it. A small learning curve. So now I am officially an https site. So i have the green lock and a red broken one. I’m not sure why both show. Should be just the one. I made a tutorial for adding a free SSL security certificate for other folks on GoDaddy or on a web hosted site that uses CPanel so hopefully it won’t take other people as long the first time round.
