senryu : song

song tapping my mind
lyrics bubbling through the pen
who can add the notes

senryu by M. Nakazato LaFreniere

11:58 pm — cutting it close so posting it and finishing it after.

ok, now to finish.  I think it’s natural for poets to write lyrics because that’s all lyrics are — poetry.  I just wish I knew how to write the music part and could sing on key.  The singing on key would be awesome.

when I lived in Japan, I hung out with a band and one of the members wrote the music to my lyrics and they put it on their CD.  My friend Rie sang back up on it.  I’ll see if I can’t find it and post it somehow.

So since I’m not sharing my song right now, I thought I’d share somethings by Kawehi.  I think she’s a pretty cool independent artist

I love Kawehi.  She does this amazing thing of being a one-person band.  So I’m putting in a video where she does that with a cover by Nirvana and then also an original she did with her band. She is Hawaiian but settled down in Lawrence, KS with her husband and does her music career on You-tube and Spotify. And now Facebook.

Lyrics to Mona Lisa by Kawehi

Make me no sinner, darling
Make me an angel dressed in light
I shoulda, coulda been your wife

Paint me no portrait picture
For all to look me in the eye
Thinking she shoulda, coulda been mine

You left me, you left me
Cool in color, cool on fingertips
You paint me, you paint me
Sweet like honey, red-hot summer sin
Coulda, woulda shoulda’s don’t win

Make me no sinner, darling
Make me the girl when we first met
I wanna rock you in your step

Give me a look to ache for
Give me a reason to be high
No shoulda, coulda been mine

You left me, you left me
Cool in color, cool on fingertips
You paint me, you paint me
Sweet like honey, red-hot summer sin
Coulda, woulda shoulda’s don’t win

You made me Mona Lisa
With eyes that talk like summer rain
I’d be your Mona Lisa
But you say no, so I say go

You left me, you left me
Cool in color, cool on fingertips
You paint me, you paint me
Sweet like honey, red-hot summer sin
Coulda, woulda shoulda’s don’t win

Save me, save me, save me
From your cool, cool color
Save me, save me Mona Lisa

Her latest video on you-tube published November, 2017.  Joga/Army of Me by Bjork (cover by Kawehi).  She has a later post on Facebook:  Creep by Radiohead.  It looks to me like she’s moving from You-tube to Facebook.  I’ve seen a couple other people do that so wonder if it’s a trend and why.
