Tanka : wedding dress

I love these title challenges from Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie.  She asks you to make a poem or story from one of these:

The Last Rose of Babylon
The Underground Flamingo
A Very Auspicious Accident
The Eidolon and the Wardrobe
My Grandmother’s Wedding Dress
Sealed with a Curse
Compassion: Gift of the Suffering Heart
The Day the Willows Shrieked
My Incessant Valentine
The Unmaking of a Dream

So, of course, I reach for something in  haiku/senryu formL

The day Willow shrieked
“My Grandmother’s Wedding Dress”
Sealed with a Curse

hmmm, but I see a story here. So let’s start again. The story line: what happens when an old flame who never gave up shows at the wedding, pouring red wine on white satin…

The day Willow shrieked
“My Grandmother’s Wedding Dress”
Sealed with a Curse
My Incessant Valentine
The Unmaking of a Dream

Eidolon hushed her
an auspicious accident
a quick wardrobe change
she floats down the aisle in pink
The Last Rose of Babylon

the old flame storms off, foiled again.  It’s no fun when dreams of revenge end in sweetness and light.

I do like a happy ending, don’t you?
