Daily Haiku / Senryu : Memorize

pins, last four, passwords
memorize secured data
brain is full! reboot!

A new card arrives in the mail, the pin following after.  At the library,  I scan my card then type out the pin to checkout books. Cards and accompanying pins are proliferating. It’s not just bank cards any more.

Not to mention passwords! Seems like between apps and sites, the need for passwords would fill up a novel.  And of course, your password should not be the same across sites — that’s not secure.  Don’t forget now you have to add a symbol and a capital and don’t make it the name or birthdate of anyone you know or any of your pets.  Random is best.

Is it just me? When did the world become this place that you need a password just to socialize? I can’t even figure out a way to setup a like button so someone can like a post without joining WordPress which requires a … you guessed it … password. So my nonblogging friends can leave comments but can’t “like” me.

Not to say I don’t understand why we worry about security.  I check my live traffic out of curiousity and get 50 hits a day from Ukranian and Russian IPs trying to login.  Now why they would want to login into my little blog that gets maybe 5 to 20 visitors a day and only has one writer is beyond me. I mean seriously, why hack a haiku? If I wrote a spy novel, I’d have Russian mafia leaving secret messages on obscure WordPress blogs for other Russian gangmembers to read.  Go here and collect all the spoils from the XYZ heist.

My brain is getting full.  The pins, emails and passwords are overwriting things I used to have memorized like songs and my friends’ phone numbers.  Vocabulary slips between my fingers.  Memories fade behind a mist of numbers and @s.

Reboot!  Need new input!  I think today, I’ll work on memorizing something cool like a poem preferably from the 1800s.  Or a Kanji — I think Japanese lettering is beautiful and a kanji is both an image and meaning.

What do you have memorized? a song, movie dialogue? Just curious.

Amazon: ok, my essay was a bit random so so are my amazon choices.  I don’t own any of these but they piqued my interest so thinking about it. Who wouldn’t want unlimited memory? Title promises a bit much but might be fun. The next two books are by Bruce Schneier, a security expert.  The Data and Goliath in particular looks a little scarey as it’s about how companies and the government use the personal data collected on us.  the Jbubbles game looks interesting.

I had my first buy last week and received $3.00 for a Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote | Streaming Media Player purchase.  Yay!  Although it may end up costing me money because now I want one, lol.
