Daily Haiku / Senryu: Scorpion

1+

Just cuz you’re nice, doesn’t make you a fool: an old folktale
aka The Scorpion and The Tortoise (told in haiku)

river rushes by
scorpion asks for a ride
kindly tortoise nods

tap tap on the shell
“what are you doing up there?”
“trying to sting you”

shrugs, “it’s my nature”
“idiot” says the tortoise
diving down, “bye bye”

haiku by M. Nakazato LaFreniere

Creative Random Word Generator
Site where you can randomly generate 1-8 words. It’s also has some word mind games on the dropdown menu if you want some brain exercise. The tweening games looks interesting. I changed the setting to 1 and got Scorpion. The Scorpion and the Tortoise and other folktales about unnatural partnerships

Note: Added on 9/20/17 I’ve been accepted as an Amazon affiliate. Last month I got my first “buy”. Haven’t gotten a second one yet. Still I’m happy. The first buy means they’ll review your site and officially accept you and I got accepted! Now, I’ll usually get a percentage if someone buys something by clicking a link — for books it’s 4.5%. Random word generator
I was using the Daily Post Prompts.  They show entries through a pingback system on WordPress.  Mine weren’t showing up so I’ve changed a couple setting in my WordPress software. I’ll wait a couple days and see if that worked — ie, my entries showing. Meantime I thought I might check out random word generators out of curiousity. This one lets you set how many words it generates with the default being 12.  I set it to one and got fog.

Picture:  A gorgeous antique carousel graces the grounds of Tilden Park with hand-carved fantastic creatures. Built in 1911, bought in 1978, the merry-go-round is one of 200 hand-carved wooden carousels in the United States. I took the picture in 1996 when I lived on Telegraph Street, Berkeley, California.

Disclaimer: I have signed up as an Amazon affiliate so I may get a small payment if anyone buys anything by clicking the Walden link. The sheet said 4.5% if it’s a book. They haven’t accepted me yet–you get accepted after the first purchase. I think this next quote is required but I’ve noticed on some sites they have written their own personal text so I’m not sure. “We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.”
