Before dawn, the train leaves the city walls to cross the empty prairies heading for some soon-to-be-forgotten boom town. Smoke streams back as the chug-chug sounds pick up speed become a consistent rumbling.  Passengers wake up, head back to the dining car for breakfast: eggs, toast, ham, coffee and a glass of orange juice.  City folk exclaim as mountains and cactus come into view.  Everything is so different from the grasses and trees they are used to.

Someone shouts, “Look!”  Everyone runs to the one side to peer out the window as horses, their hoofs flying, dash down the hillside racing to the train.  Railroad employees rush to safeguard their passengers against the incoming villains. This is no peccadillo; they have come to rob the train.

But this is no ordinary train, needing a lonely superhero to fight off the onslaught. No, this train carried a load of Pinkertons setting out to capture bounties.  Quickly, men and women both drew out rifles and revolvers to drive off the gang.

Hey wait!  That can’t happen!  The movie would be too short!  Where’s the damn script.

Kate Warne convinced Alan Pinkerton to hire her in 1856, making her the first female detective.  She worked undercover.  I imagine though as she was considered on of his best, they went on to hire more.

is
a expensive though, the used DVD starts at
$46.17 on 2/5/18. I saw a
mention in a review
of a better version on a Kino Edison set but
couldn’t find the title of the set so didn’t find
what they were referring to.

Red Sun (1941) starring Toshiro Mifune,
Charles Bronson, Ursula Andress

I know it’s not in black and white but it had
a samurai and a train robbery so I couldn’t resist.
