I think he just ate because he was bulging a bit in the middle.

The flash put a funny black line under him.  I took one without the flash, just the light from the car but he’s fuzzy in this one.  Boy, did he hate the flash!  Don’t blame him as it’s pretty late at night and must have startled him.

I’ll probably go back and fix the flash ones — they are too light but wanted to get these up before midnight so they are straight from my camera.

First time I’ve seen a rattlesnake outside a zoo.  Scarey but cool. I am sooo happy I brought along my telephoto lens.  Tammy said you see all kinds of things geocaching.

Senryu : breakfast

spinach omelette
hashbrowns crunching, black coffee
sluggish mind perks up

senryu by M. Nakazato LaFreniere

Coffee is my magical talisman.  Trust me, without it, the sun does not rise. You say it does?  I don’t think so!  Closes my eyes and goes back to bed.  Wake me up when the coffee’s done.

Senryu : I’d rather be on Mars

Wish I were on Mars
a lost civilization
grand discovery

senryu by M. Nakazato LaFreniere

I love science-fiction, more than partially because I’ve always wanted to be a space explorer and visit new planets and alien civilizations. Unfortunately I’ve been near-sighted since I was 6 so that dream died an early death.  And as they say, those who can’t, write!  It’s probably why my stories are fantasy or sci-fi.

Senryu : parachute bridal gown

3+

World War Two bride’s dress
parachute silk — blushing gal
survivor’s love gift

senryu by M. Nakazato LaFreniere

Thinking about time.  This dress, because it was made of parachute silk came from a specific time in history.  During WWII, silk was a rare commodity because much of it was used for parachutes.

A GI presenting his fiancee with his parachute was not just giving her silk so that she could create a bridal gown.  The parachute may have saved his life so that he could come back to marry, a precious memento of his surviving when so many did not.

I saw this today at the Pima Air & Space museum.

In Tucson, Chocolate Iguana has been around for 27 years with chocolate, candies and espresso.  Recently someone has bought their building to put in a coffee shop they’ve invested in and Chocolate Iguana finds themselves suddenly without a home.  They will be moving out on March 31, 2018.

Their chocolate truffles are to die for!  If you haven’t been, go now.  Who knows if or how long before they can find a place and reopen.
