Haiku : Skating

One of my favorite images of the holidays is seeing people ice skate.  I love roller skating but I’d rather watch ice skating.  The only thing I remember about the one time I tried ice skating as an adult was falling down so many time that my bum got wet from all the melted snow on my backside.  It’s a beautiful dance/sports form, though.

Carpe Diem holiday submissions:

Chèvrefeuille plans to create a Carpe Diem Haiku Kai holiday poetry book of holiday haiku, tanka or other Japanese poetry forms. He said I could submit mine on an image if I wanted so I thought I would do this one.  If you’re interested in submitting poems in Japanese poetry styles with a Christmas theme, check out his post:

Second life photo:

Second life photo by M. LaFreniere, avatar Kayla Woodrunner
Location: Calliefornia.  avatar Callie Cline made the trees which I particularly liked for their graceful curves.  Her trees transformed a typical winterscape into a snowy faeryland.

In Second Life, you can change the lighting and the type of lens (from extreme wide to medium to extreme close).  I started here

Tried out different angles

Tried out different skies

I actually ended up layering 2 different skies in Photoshop since one lighting lit me better but I liked the background colors of another better.  One nice thing in a virtual world is a person can hold the same pose for a really long time.  If I had to do that in real life, my arms would have died, lol.
