senryu : my sister & I

my sister and I
five and three, so little then
wonder what we thought

senryu by M. Nakazato LaFreniere

My sister sounded like she didn’t have this photograph so I went searching through mom’s pictures and found it in a frame.  The surrounding paper had aged, turning tea brown but the photograph hasn’t faded one whit.  Have to say this about black & white, the stuff lasts forever.

1965. We look so serious in that picture.  I wonder what we were thinking.

This pic and poem is to Sis, with love.

(I just noticed that my San and your San kimonos are the same. As Sisters, we did share everything. Lol)
